Two years from that and still no upgrade. I thought that this tech was superior to lcd in every way. Has anybody any idea why epson went back lcd only and haven't bring new models with this tech?

Most likely they didn't get yields of the product that made it affordable to sell. Likely they were hoping to have that (like OLED wanted larger yields this year) but it didn't happen at a price point that would let them release it.

It's available for sale in Japan and Asia market.
there's review by a Taiwan HT magazine and give them a best-performance for non 3D projector.
I think the list price is around NT$129,900 (USD4,100)
I can access to the review but it's subscription base and it prevent the reader from copy & paste, so I can't show it here
