Oow too bad it's not working for everyone, but people like i said many times before, firstly crank up the heating to the max and let your pj run for at least a good 8 hours, if there is no noticeable improvement then there is absolutely no reason to do the blowdryer thing. i only blew into the front airintake, i wasn't even aware of another intake?
I blew hot air in it for a good 15 min, 5 min longer untill after it was gone.
It seems all models built before the hd750/rs20 are succeptible to this problem, and since the rs40 and up it seems no one has reported this problem anymore, so things like rs40 , 50,60 and newer should be fine to buy used, because of updated grid polarizers. Some say the lastly built rs20 models also have updated polarizers, but be sure to crossreference the serialnumber with jvc before u buy. That being said, if i could pick up an rs 20 with pink line for under a grand i would still contemplate it for a secondary (basement) system actually, it would still be infinitely better then for instance the epsons. And masking it into an effective 960p projector really doesnt make a difference ( i know in theory u loose some resolution but this is unnoticeable , at least on my 110 inch screen. I was sending out a 960 p signal anyway, i only removed the masks after the whole night of running hot to check if the pink line had grown, but to my amazement it was almost gone by then...
When jvc is offering a fix at 700 bucks (about 500 euro's in belgium) all they do is open the optical block and do a fix, something like reallingnin mirrors according to the belgian rep, but i don't know if this is accurate because i don't really value her opinion, seems her biggest job is to calm down unsatisfied customers and they never let me talk to one of the technicians who actually do the repair, even after asking repeatedly. There is absolutey no guarante that it will stay away, and in my case i'm sure it would be 700 bucks down the drain, as they performed this fix twice on my unit without succes, i'm inclined to tell u to save those 700 big ones.
