See Screen Reaserch or Stewart ,both very good - but they are expensive !

Was looking around Canadian JVC website looking for the warranty info and they have not updated thier website to include any of this years projector offerings, so I looked at other Canadian retailers info and some were listed as three years. Sent a msg off to JVC Canada asking for clarification and go this response....

"Hi Damon, Thanks for the msg! We are currently in the process of updating our site - but you will see the X55 page very shortly ~week. To confirm on your question, the warranty on the DLA-X55 is three years! Please note, you must register online through jvc.ca for the three year extension.

Thanks,
JVC
"

Not sure how they pick their warranty periods?? Perhaps a spinning wheel and darts?

Three years is what the whole line-up should be IMO....

Should have my X-55 today or tomorrow hopefully smile.gif

That is a steal if it's new with mount, second lamp, two 3D glasses, and three year warranty. Not much difference between the 6010 and new 6020. The 6010 will have the brightess picture and best 3D compared to JVC and Sony. It's 2D is also very good. I dumped my JVC RS40 and moved to an Epson 6010 and have no complaints. It's all a matter of tradeoffs and at that price, jump on the Epson and enjoy.

EDIT: It's always a good idea to contact AVS before buying anything though, they may have better deals (though not sure in this case. I don't think they can sell the 60x0 models over the net). They're also very good for advise.

What do you guys think i the better value in my case, the Sony 50ES or the JVC X55R for a 120inch 1.1gain screen in a light controled home theater/rec room.

Wouldn't mind 3d sometimes but I would say 90% 2D Blu-rayand HDTV material.
Is the JVC really that much better for blacks or is the sony on equal ground using the iris?

Is the Iris something you get used to or notice it from day 1 of ownership?
Has JVC corrected their "aging bulb" problem they had a few years ago?

Thanks for the feedback.

The JVC has e-shift which is better than the Sony's RC, so say most everyone.
For just pure 2D, probably the JVC.

Out of all the JVC's we have sold this year, zero lamp failures. smile.gif As far as dimming goes, everybody has talked about how good their lamps are holding up.

Plus you can use the masking settings on the projector and make the TV shape wider. The black bars on the side would be smaller by cutting a little off the top/bottom.
