I have a whole batch of Stewart screen samples that AVScience sent to me this week. I'm thinking of getting rid of my Da-Lite High Power screen. The StudioTek 130 and StudioTek 100 are by far the best. I only asked for one Ultramatte sample and that was the Ultramatte 150. Way too many sparkles. It was distracting. The StudioTek 130 has some noticeable sparkles too but it's nothing that I found distracting from the viewing experience. The StudioTek 100 was amazingly smooth with no texture and absolutely no sparkles. Great material if you don't need anything higher than 1.0 gain. You should be happy with your choice. At that size the 1.3 gain should help nicely.

I never did get around to seeing the JVC...it just became a moot point. I couldn't afford to do the Q-750, which has a screen size limitation factor to consider, and the JVC, was in all honesty, just too common. So I decided to be different and get the Runco 2.35 set-up, to stay just a step outside of normal, where I like it.

Plus I really did like the LS-5 picture's look and feel and decided to not work myself over and just go with what I've always wanted to do ...Scope.

Thanks for all of the help,I'll see you in the CIH threads.

I quote myself to show what happens when we "think" we know what we're getting. I did not get the LS-5. I instead have ordered and paid for, so it's truly official...A Runco VX 3000i.

Thanks GetGray!

Now all I need to do is stop angst-ing over which lens.

Not recently you were praising it, especially the 2.8 gain material.

I'm only using it because of the projector I have it paired with. I won't need the high gain properties of the screen if I switch to another projector.

I'm just curious why you went with this over the LS-5? Both seem to put out the same lumens but the LS-5 is going to have drastically better contrast performance.

On paper perhaps, but they share internals, so, I anticapate very similar real world performance. Plus there was a special wink.gif

There doesn't seem to be a dynamic iris. Looking through the spec sheet and user manual It looks similar to the LS-5 minus a dynamic iris.
