Looking to pick up a AE8000 for my new home theater. Where is the best place to buy it from? I haven't found any local stores near me(Katy, TX) that sell it, so I will most likely buy online. What is the best site to buy from? I would like a site, that will take back a PJ if for some reason it is messed up out of the box, or whatever...basically a place that isn't a hassle to deal with. I am leaning towards Visual Apex, and one of their package deals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried AVScience? Give Mike a call. He can give you a great price (as AVS always does) and availability information. Here's his info:

Obviously they will take back DOA and defective units. AVScience also has a 15 day return policy on projectors if you don't like the product. Here's the info:
Quote:
Projectors:
  • If your projector has less than four (4) hours on the lamp, it may be returned for the full purchase price within fifteen (15) days as provided above.
  • Projectors with more than five (5) hours may not be returned or exchanged.
  • Any sign of damage or excessive usage may result in a 15% restocking fee even on projectors with less than four (4) hours of use.
  • Tampering with any of the settings on a projector will void the AVS Return Policy, and no refund or exchange will be allowed.

I don't think avs sells the 8000. If you go to the penny website they will list the authorized retailers. Right now a couple of them are selling at $2699 before $100 rebate. Rebate offer ends Jan 30th. Good luck.

Amazon has the best price, but the merchants are not authorized resellers and from what I've read, Panasonic will not honor the rebate or warranty.

If you check here their website it states they sell Panasonic projectors. Unless they've recently dropped their line and haven't updated their site they should still carry them:
