I have it down to these two projectors - like just about everyone else I have been going through all the information possible. Cannot view either one but I am coming from an Epson 1080UB, I can get the 5020 for 550.00 cheaper than the RS46 but since I intend on keeping it for a few years want the best image possible in 2D. Less tweaking on the Epson from what I have read. I have approx. 1500 hours on the 1080UB in the last 5 years - the other definite plus would be lack of dust in the pj, basically which one is better sealed? Thank you for any advice!

The JVC is better sealed and is better build quality. The JVC also has the better picture for 2D, the Epson is better in 3D.

Thank you for the push in the right direction - I just ordered the JVC RS46. Now all I have to do is learn to calibrate the thing Any suggestions?

The RS-46 does not have a CMS if you care, but you can still calibrate gray-scale and the gamma. If you want to do it to a near-professional level, you will need the Chromapure package and the D3 colorimeter. Though it depends on how much you want to spend, but that is a good start.

Otherwise, start with the AVS rec 709 disk (free download from this forum), just burn it to a regular DVD on your PC and plop it in your bluray player.
