I'm quite interested in these two projectors but would like to see them in action. Are there any owners in the Charlotte, NC area that would be nice enough for me to come by and take a look? Or, do you know of any AV places in town that might have them on display for me to check out?

Thanks in advance.

Welp...no replies.

Hmmmm, well let's try this...can anyone give me a rundown of which is better and why? Is the price difference justified?

Is the Sony that much better than the Panny?

If you have the money, yes. Sony will be much brighter in best mode. Motion will be better too. Not much of a chance with dust blobs on the Sony. So yes the Sony is a much much better fp than the Panny.

You can see the Sony in action at "Audio Advice", on Carolina Place Parkway next to the mall, about 5 minutes from my (current) house. But beware - it has a puny 1.6x zoom so, depending on your screen size, you may have to mount it closer than you would like. Almost tripped me up. I have a 110" screen in the theater room I'm building and a 17.5' throw distance to the screen. The 50EX can't zoom in enough at that distance to fit into the 47" of vertical space on my 'scope ratio screen. I'm going with a projector with a bigger, electronic zoom so I can change aspect ratios quickly and easily (the Sony has a manual zoom - dumb).
