Yes your right...

And the optoma rf ZF2100 is also working;)

I believe they use the same emitter... Did you have to adjust the glasses to reduce x-talk?

At last! A decent review! I've already got the projector, but it's nice to have my choice of projector confirmed as being worth it.

Well I hope it's as good in person as Art made it sound in the review because mine should be here any day now. It's my first PJ so I've got nothing to lose, LOL! I'm upgrading from a 55" LED/LCD so I'm sure I'll be blown away for the most part. There's always pros & cons with anything though. Personally, I won't be totally satisfied until I have a 120" 4K or 8K OLED hanging on my wall. rolleyes.gif

Honestly, you will watch the screen open-mouthed when you finally get it - I consistently impressed with the HW55, and I have owned two projectors prior to this one.

Exactly what I found myself doing when I watched Pacific Rim in 3D!

And when I do find something I don't like, I have been able to find a way to make an adjustment to the HW55 to compensate and largely remove any performance flaws. Something I cannot say about previous projectors I have owned.

One side note of a really cool feature carried over from last year: The HW55 remembers your setting based on the resolution of the video feed. I have three feeds coming into the Projector via HDMI 1 through my AVR: Oppo Bluray, FiOS TV, and streaming MKV from my network. The HW55 changes it's setting for each one, even though all are on HDMI 1. Are first I thought it was not remembering my settings, but as I realized what was happening, it gives you great flexibility to achieve the best picture for each video input resolution with minimal adjustments each time you switch sources, or even resolution, as will happen with HDTV broadcast material. This is, in my mind, an amazing feature, which allows you to get the most out of the PJ.

I received mine as well, and have the same impressions. The picture quality is mind-boggling. Sure, some of that is partly because I upgraded from a Mitsubishi HC5000 (a good projector for its time), but honestly I'm blown away by how good it looks out of the box. Can't wait to break it in and calibrate it.

On a slight tangent, today the installer put up my DNP Core II Supernova (I chose it because of all the positive feedback I saw about its light-rejecting capability). And, simply put, WOW. When the HW55ES is set to high lamp mode, I can have some blazing lights turned on in the living room and have an amazingly watchable picture on this screen, bordering on "great". Of course, it looks way better with the lights out, but I specifically wanted to have a living room setup that retains daytime viewing capability. Can't really call this a review because I just got the screen today, but I'm super happy with this projector+screen combo so far.

hey guys, does anybody have any opinion on whether the 55 has a better/sharper lens than the HW50? The 50 was too soft for my liking, and RC is not something I liked too much either smile.gif

I would say so. I saw a demo of Life of Pi on a 110" Stewart Neve screen couple weeks ago and the picture was very sharp. Almost 4K like. I didn't see any hints of RC being cranked either. The HW55 is very impressive projector. It was able to put out very bright picture yet can maintain excellent blacks and contrast. This is my impression just after seeing the 1000ES next door.

That's a great demo movie. And the HW55 & Stewart Cima Neve screen would be an excellent combination !!

Just read a strange review of the 55ES on the "Trusted Reviews" site. It basically gets a great review for 2D (9 out of 10), but for 3D it gets 7 out of 10 due to some ghosting. But on their last years review of the 50ES, they give it a 9 out of 10 for 3D! What gives? Is ghosting worse on the 55ES, the same, or what? They may be scewed up though, as they claim the 55ES is 30% brighter than the 50ES. I think they were talking about the difference between the 30ES and 50ES.

I don't think TrustedReviews is as highly qualified for projector reviews as some other sites like projectorreviews.com. I always have a feelng that I am reading a lot of text, but not getting a better picture of the device they are reviewing.

Can you clarify? You said "I WOULD SAY NO" but then you say it looked sharp. So, do you think yes it is sharper than the 50, or NO it is not sharper than the 50?! Thanks!

This worries me. That same source states as a CONS: "SLIGHTLY HIGH INPUT LAG FOR GAMERS". No such mention on their HW50 review, which we all know has nice low lag times...
ANy info on input lag on the 55 yet? It's a dealbreaker for me

I would say, the reviewer has probably learned more, what to look for. In other words, saw some DLP projectors doing 3D, because the 55 is not a big change in ghosting over the 50. Stating lag is worse, I don't believe that it is any different.

I have no idea what the lag times are, but I've been playing COD: Ghosts in Game Mode and have consistently had more kills than deaths. That's good enough for me. biggrin.gif

Does the HW55ES have a better lens than the HW50ES, or are they exactly the same?
