Strangely - when the input to the projector is from the comcast cable box, event though it included side by side and over under, the projector only offers sdie by side. When the input is from my DVD - getting from youtube side by side and oiver under, the proector offers both side by side and over under. Can anyone offer a reason and what I can do?

With a 1080i signal (probably what is coming from your Comcast box) the HDMI 1.4a standard only requires support for side-by-side 3D format with the top-bottom 3D format being only an optional format. For 720p and 1080p signals top-bottom is a required 3D format and side-by-side is only an optional 3D format. The projector is probably only offering the required formats for 1080i signals, but for 720p and/or 1080p signals it is offering the required formats and also an optional format.

Go into the menu settings of your Comcast box and change the output to 720p and you will see the missing 3D format option in the Sony's 3D menu.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try it hoping that the shift to 720p will not downgrade the output noticeably.

Your welcome. You may notice a minor amount of ghosting and a few motion artifacts, but it shoudn't prevent you from enjoying the show. And since the price is right, its all good smile.gif
