Ordered an Xbox One and I've always been a fan of Kinect. If I have to raise my arms or jump for some reason will it block the projector light? Ive never owned a projector before and I am dying to purchase one fairly soon, but I am a gamer at heart and would be very upset if I couldnt use Kinect because it blocks the projector light.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

J.S.

There are some very cool front projector + Kinect setups on Youtube. Here are just a couple:

Easy to set up a projector for kinect. Just need to set screen size, throw distance and viewing distance to make it all work. I had ours set up for this, but kids never used it, so when I canted my system last time, I removed the Kinect system.

You just have to set it up so that people's heads are not blocking the image. This means, if you can have a viewing distance close to the throw distance, then it will work fine.

Your best bet is probably to get a short throw projector like a BenQ w1080st which will actually be mounted in front of you. Otherwise you will need a fairly high ceiling and a projector that has a fair amount of lens shift (probably a LCD or LCoS projector rather than a DLP). We can probably give some better advice if you give us some idea of your price range, room situation, and general viewing habits.

The only thing that really presents a problem is the seating. With today's closer viewing distances, it can present a problem. If you have a longer viewing distance, so that the projector is in front of the seats, then you should be able to make it work without too much trouble. If projector is behind the seats, then it will probably be a problem.

Would a wii have the same issue? I haven't used the kinect but I'm guessing the setup is at least similar.
