I'm curious to see how many people think someone with VERY basic skills can install (mount) their own projector and screen, assuming:
1) all cords have been ran and electric outlets are available at the right locations
2) the screen will be motorized, tensioned, 110" and ceiling mounted
3) the projector will be ceiling mounted and have necessary lens shift

Samsung TV - PN59D8000 - wall mounted
HW50ES projector w/electric Elite 120" ceiling mounted screen (drops in front of plasma)
Receiver - Yamaha RX-A3000
Front Speakers - B&W CM9, Center - B&W CMC2, Surrounds - B&W CM5
SVS PB12+, SVS PB13 Ultra

No big deal, Just plan it out step by step, Read the manuals (especially the sections referring to instillation) prior to beginning. Take your time. Try to visualize what you will do prior to each step of the plan. I did a tensioned 110" Dalite in-ceiling mount and mounted the projector on an opposing wall shelf myself. Even ran all the cables and routed the AC. It turned out ok and I have what I and my family & friends think is the best system we have encountered. Don't forget about you 5.1 or 7.1 stereo setup when you do this. Good luck .

I've built 3 theaters myself, including a ventilated double projector hidden soffit with 2 motorized screens - anyone that is somewhat handy with tools can do it.

this was my former theater - My NEC HT1000 and Optoma H76 mounted prior to building the soffit. The short throw and big offset of the HT1000 makes it easy to have a 4:3 and a widescreen projector!
Another view of the seating and built in projector soffit. Note Axoim QS4 speakers. This was my previous home theater with an NEC HT1000 and a H79 running on 2 electric screens!!

Note - this is before I realized that no matter what the wife wanted, white paint should be avoided at all costs ! I got rid of that wife and found one that likes greys and blacks in the theater... smile.gifeek.gif

With the outrageous prices charged by so called pros, I couldn't fathom paying that just to hang a screen or Mount a projector. I was quoted several thousand dollars to install a projector and screen and run wires.

The wires are the hardest part. If you can manage that, I'd say the rest is easy.
