UPS apparently decided to lightly knock instead of using the doorbell -- I had no idea they attempted delivery this morning while I was putting on the second coat of paint in my new theater room. Grumble.

"Grumble"? That's it? Wow that is cause for a good female dogging phone call to tell em WTF??!! mad.gifmad.gif

Oh I am so sorry to hear that, I'm with you bud....when I got my RS-50 three years ago the same thing happened and I drove around for 3 hours trying to find the truck but never could. It is really frustrating!

added later: Interesting I only posted this once yet it shows up twice, guess that's how frustrating it is lol.

That's just painful. Been there.

good to know though for a first time like me, we have to sign

Love sports, movies, and games. Slowly some day I'll add a projector and screen. Until then, I'll build up my library.

Sounds like quite a few new owners are having HDMI input issues. Maybe we should have a thread just for issues out of the box if it's really as wide spread as it appears. Also, if there are issues with the 4910's right out of the box-so much for the factory QC check.

My 4810 had a stuck on blue pixel in the center of the screen last year. The "QC" either thought that was acceptable or didn't see it. So I don't think the "extra QC" means much other than maybe catching a unit that otherwise would have been DOA or something.

Not good first reports. Haven't had a single one yet with the new owner gushing over how great it is. If the 4910's have issues right out of the box, then either they just check to make sure it powers up and call it a QC check that looks good on paper, or nothing at all I'm afraid.

guys, there's about 3 people now with these projectors... smile.gif

give it a few days for the additional feedback to come in. I have several different 4K sources I'll test with the RS57 tomorrow night.

Funny thing is, I've never had this much trouble selling a projector before. Everyone must think newer = better... Oh well. Someone will buy it eventually. I'm not giving the dang thing away. Kinda like zombie and his rs55. If they were so so samples, maybe, but they are great samples, and I feel that's worth something. I know I'm still worried about getting a good Sony when it comes in. I hate the unknown sometimes. If the sony convergence and focus match my current rs4810 I would be ecstatic.

I lost big time on selling my X95, but wanted to let it go before the new models hit the market.

Im still waiting for my X900 to arrive. They apparently arrived in NZ today, but it could take until Monday before I get mine, lets hope the wait was worth it!

Hooked up my RS6710 today (it was delivered on the 23rd and its my first projector so my opinion really does not count). I also got the mounts and screen (120" SI BD Zero Edge 2.35:1) , Lumagen Radiance Mini 3D from AVS and everything looks great. I still have to get it calibrated at some point and fine tune the settings but overall I am very pleased with the performance of the projector. biggrin.gif

If anyone knows how to get the projector to work with a Harmony Ultimate please let me know as the Logitech database does not have an entry for this model yet.

I decide before CEDIA if I want to get something new and sell it them. However, I always run dual projectors so I'm never without a projector. Then, I have a ton of new movies to watch when I get a new one

You could probably use the DLA-RS66 from the Harmony data base as a starting point then if there are any missing functions use the Harmony's learning function to add the missing command(s) from your new JVC remote.

Got my 4910 yesterday, but did not have time to do a swap with my ceiling mounted RS40. I'll have to move some furniture, get my ladder and do the swap this afternoon. Probably not be able to do any critical viewing until this evening. At least it got here before the original bulb on my 40 blew! biggrin.gif

What's up, been a while since I rarely visit this forum much lately (been working too many hours a day remastering images through coding techniques).
Just started, you guys think calibration is hell, try remastering 300,000 images in code :P

Luckily it's due to all you freakazoid people (only kidding) and our 800 arguments that I now know enough to even do this job.
I still have the battle scars from this darn place to prove it too smile.gif

Looks like I'll just hold onto my RS-45, the best offer was $1350, no thank you sir smile.gif
I'm going to wait for 120hz native 3D, then I'll get something...

I know we are just over the holidays, but I am surprised not to see many comments on the new projectors. I have not read about this issue with the 4910's HDMI issue, is there a post/posts related to this? I have not gotten mine yet as it is being calibrated.

One poster, I think it was on the new 4910 threat, reported a dead HDMI input on HDMI 2. Also same poster reported problems with 4K on input HDMI 1. Only that one report AFIK.

So i just received a call from my Canadian reseller they they received 2 units (X700) in today and they will be shipping my projector, extra bulb,2 RF glasses and the RF Emitter out today, i prob wont see it for a few days as its shipping from Toronto to Calgary... but at least its on its way i just hope it shows up before i head down to CES next friday.... have some business to do before the show starts early the week after, but i'll definitely be stopping at the JVC booth and Sony Booth to do my somewhat late comparison since i've already decided on the JVC.

That's one of my customers. Looks like he got a defective projector - which is being swapped out for him. These things do happen unfortunately.

We really appreciate your great support with the issue. We'll update the thread once we get the new one. :)

Also the Screen Innovations zero edge pure white 1.3 gain is a great match with the projector from our first impression.

Initial checkpoints from Jonathan to consider during your evaluation:

1) Convergence (evaluate ONLY after at least 30 minutes, and preferably 1 hour). Make sure you check carefully in all 4 corners after optimising the centre. Try if possible to replicate its actual usage position. i.e. if it is upside down on a ceiling evaluate it like that with the same lens shift if possible. SWITCH E-SHIFT OFF before evaluating convergence or focus. This is done by pressing the MPC button and setting it to off.
2) Focus uniformity. Once again evaluate at the same throw and lens shift as your final position if possible. Optimise centre focus and then check the boundaries (not just the 4 corners but the outside edges).

I did the convergence and focus again & it looks even moar wicked now.biggrin.gif Stoaked.

I did both at the 1/83-1, does it matter/better/makes a diff. if I do both on the 1/83 or 2/40. Then zoom back and forth between the two depending on the movies ratio... The reason why is because everytime I zoom (memory setting) between 1/83 & 2/40, I have to do lens shift a little to the right/left to center the scope screen...

Thanks, eh.

Well, speaking for myself, I just scored a 4810 b-stock from AVS for a few hundred less than you're selling yours for, so there is that! Understood that yours is an especially good unit though. I think it's just a price issue with you and Tim.
