I personally don't like too much of this and previously has my SR set to 1 and likely keep it at
the same settings for now.

What kind of cable are you using to connect your PC and the PJ?

Do I need some kind of special service port cable from Epson?

I'm anxious to do the update but am stymied at this point.

TIA.

Thanks Tasdom.

I went down to my local BB (rip-off shop) and picked one up from them.

The update is a very good enhancement and certainly makes a profound difference in the picture.

I have been considering getting a Darbee but after this modification, I think the idea of $300 for a Darbee has gone on the top shelf in the rear behind last weeks newspaper.

Very glad Epson came out with it but if I hadn't been a reader of this board I wouldn't have known ANYTHING about it.

That's not so good.

But I'm a happy non-camper.

You would think they would put a more common connection on these devices but that is too logical.

I guess for the same reason there are so many different plumbing valves, etc. etc.

I'm sure glad life is not too easy. <G>

It was actually the standard cable 5 or 6 years ago. I'd bet good money you have at least one lying around somewhere

If you're lucky, the "auto" 3D setting on the projector will work. On StereoPhotoMaker, I had to manually set the projector to "side by side" to get it to go into the 3D mode.

In Epson 5030, you can go to 3d settings and set it to "side by side".

I'd also like to hear more thoughts about how the SR relates to the sharpness setting. Currently I have sharpness set to 3. Should I be dropping sharpness to 0 in favor of SR?

I assume you have installed the firmware upgrade for detail enhancement. I think with this upgrade SR gives more sharpness and depth. I have SR on 3 or 4 and sharpness at 0 and the picture is clear and crisp (THX)
