No, true 4K. Big news is the DI. JVC also said that improvements in the lcos chips give them 100 lumens more brightness and 'improved ANSI CR'. The demo I saw certainly did look excellent.

Great, Bill, our 1st live sighting!

Will they demo it with and without the DI (but don't call it that or they might show you the door)?

Well that's intriguing too.

I wonder if (presuming the ANSI contrast increase is true) whether the "Clear Black" local dimming feature produces more ANSI contrast. A previous description of how it works strikes me as suggesting this.

I am so disappointed that JVC didn't bring true 4K and HDMi 2.0 to their projectors!  I will keep my wallet closed until next year and my JVC DLA RS35U will last an other year!

My wife will be happy :)

They probably figured that by the time next year, there will be slim to no 4k movies and all they would do is upscale to 4K. So, they continue to have eshift to upscale to 4k

I guess you are not counting 4K releases on the Sony server.

I really thing the issue was having to charge more for a 4K unit then their present top pro/consumer model. They just I think that we get enough economies of scale re a 4K lens and 4K chips to make much money on it this year. Remember it would be a complete new kit and kit development costs about $400K and then you have part costs and production costs. There advantage is one kit has what 4 or 5 models in each of the consumer and pro lines.

Sony customers can't count on Sony to provide them 4k movies, why would JVC?

I'm curious as to why your 4K projector has to be a JVC? Say next year JVC does come out with a 4K unit (my guess is that it will be UHD, not 4K) and the Sony 600ES puts out a nicer picture. Are you attached to JVC so much that it's the only company you'll give your business to? I'm just curious because I've seen many people make the same exclamation about JVC not bringing a 4K unit to market. I'm going to laugh my ass off when the same people complaining about the 600ES costing $15000 this year buy the JVC 4K machine for that same price next year. tongue.gif

Geez. To many around here Sony is a four letter word! Count the letters in JVC. Polite little girls and old ladies don't use four letter words.

That is very simple I can get very very very good prices for JVC so I am sticking with it :) If I could get the Sony at the same discount I would buy the SONY today :)
