I'm almost certain they will. A couple of months ago JVC started a program in Japan where you can rent their projectors for free and try it out in your home to see if you like it or not. I remember a butt tone a people rushed to signup. Anyways they had a real 4K projector there but it was a big ass unit most likely for professional cinema, but I didn't know for sure until I asked. I asked is this for home and he kind of smiled/laughed and said "no no, a bit too expensive" He said home theater one is for next year. Mind you I don't speak Japanese very well and he didn't state any dates just next year.

Doubt JVC will introduce a projector in the Sony 1000ES space, but will in the 500/600 space....if not this year, certianly next.

May the success of a Nation be judged not by its collective wealth nor by its power, but by the contentment of its people.

To reiterate we are speculating on whether they will show a working home theater size 4K machine at say under $30K (and obviously hopefully one at least no higher than their traditional top of the line MSRP at say $12K and the machine is promised for delivery before next Cedia or as part of next year's line up. Obviously, next year they will offer such a machine. The question is will they this year and even if they don't will they show such a beast.

No, but they will be showing a native 8k laser projector according to my sources, and it will retail for under 5k MSRP. Not only that, but 2000 lumens at D65 with a 45 step manual iris to customize brightness no matter what size screen you have, 10ms lag time for gamers, ZERO ghosting and flicker, 960hz panels so motion will be perfect, 800,000:1 NATIVE contrast, ANSI will hit between 900-1000, 12db fan noise (high lamp) and best of all, a few "other" suprises for the single guys out there which I am not sure how to take, but sounds fun. Look for the official word next week!

PS.......preorder pricing will be amazing which starts next week and first units expected to arrive in October.

I asked my Wizard guy and he said "I think not" but then he said "It was certain" when I asked if they would have info about a 4K model.

I really hope that you are true because then I can sell my VW1000 and get a better projector in my HT. I have had it for over 1,5 years now and it is time to upgrade.smile.gif

But I don´t think JVC will come up with a 4K model for consumers at this years Cedia. From what I hear JVC/Kenwood is hard pressed financially and I woud be surpriced if they come up with a 4k machine, but I hope I am wrong and Sony will get some competition in the 4K consumer market. It will only be positive for us consumers and the tech will be developed faster and we will get cheaper 4K projectors.

thats what I heard too, except the ANSI will be around 100 000:1 (extremely improved dynamic image)

Actually, you are showing your ignorance. Using a 16 point color cube, the closest one you could use for 4000 point generation, would be 4096 points plus one which could not be directly adjusted. smile.gif

cischico,
That was probably JVC's cinema 4k pj, which retails for $175k.

I doubt we will see a new low priced 4k consumer pj. Times have changed since JVC shocked the world with the RS1. I could see and hope to see a new cinema 4k pj. This pj could show us what is in store for next year.

One thing is for sure and that is AVScience5 better hang out with me when I get to Cedia. Leaving for Dallas on Mon and Denver on Wed.

Current projector - JVC RS25 and Marantz VP15S1
Future projector - pre-ordered new JVC from AVScience

Doh! Thanks for the reminder as I forgot about those important new features!

Mike,

Great decision, and I would have done the same thing.

A VIP invitee/potential attendee told us otherwise. Of course every one going to Cedia is invited and is a VIP and this one could I suppose be wrong. Hope springs eternal until the opening of the JVC VIP lounge and exhibit.

I didn't get there. My '05 Merc SBC took a dump outside of Wichita Falls. I limped back to Dallas and awaiting to see how badly I will be raped. So, no bail money needed for me, but I may be out of the new pj market.

I did talk to Mike last night. He seemed excited to see the new Sony, as that may be his new pj. After the JVC event this morning, I would love to hear his feedback and see if he has swung back towards JVC.

Reminds me of an LP I own. Quoted from Wikipedia:

As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls is a collaborative album by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, released in 1981. The title makes reference to Wichita, Kansas and Wichita Falls, Texas. The title tune clocks in at just under 21 minutes.

It is one of the few albums where Metheny not only acts as both the lead and accompanying guitarist but also the bassist, as each track uses fair amounts of overdubbing. The track "September Fifteenth" is in reference to September 15, 1980, the day the American jazz pianist Bill Evans died. Metheny and Mays cite Evans as a main influence.

Yikes. Ouch! Yeah every few years if you like your cars and keep them awhile, your life's just clicking along and you're thinking of neat things to buy (hopefully on both) and then BOOM your car out of the blue requires $800 - $3,000 to fix something. The price of having no car payments and liking the car. eek.gif

LOL, try higher. According to the mechanic, some parts inside the SBC pump are bad, but not the pump itself. He would still have to replace the pump, which is under a 10 year warranty. For him, MBNA won't replace it under warranty. Out of pocket would be between $3k and $5k. I took it to the dealership and they said if they replace the pump then it is under warranty. I guess I will see when he calls tomorrow.

On a side note (as I have already gotten this off topic), does anyone ever look at the service department to see what kind of cars and how many are there before buying a new vehicle? Bringing it back on topic, people do seem to research which pjs and manufacturers have the most issues.
