To avoid losing any sharpness due to interpolating between pixels, since the convergence adjustment acts in 0.1 pixel increments, try to adjust the convergence in steps of 10, i.e. 10, 20, 30, such that the adjustment is made from full pixel to full pixel.

Apparently, your 600ES is DOA. Have Sony replace it.

Yeah! That's why I decided to bite the bullet, get the 1100ES and forget about the 500ES. The 1100ES is in a total different league from both quality and $$$ perspectives. No warm-up convergence issues and no colour uniformity problems that plagued all three 500ESs that I had.

Good luck with your replacement unit. Dead pixels are not acceptable. Especially if they're stuck (i.e. bright pixels on black images).

He did not buy from a Sony dealer and he purchased months ago and just now checking out the projector. He will be lucky if he can get it fixed, period.

Ouch! Not good to get such an expensive unit and not check it for months after the purchase. Sony might not even want to fix it, if not bought from an authorized dealer.

One of the most anal companies is Nikon. A few years ago I went to their Canadian branch in Mississauga. I was shocked to read a note stating that Nikon would not touch (i.e. service) any equipment that was not bought from a Canadian authorized dealer. This applied to both warranty and out-of-warranty products, so they would not even take one's money. For equipment purchased from an authorized dealer outside Canada, one would have to produce clear proof that one was not a Canadian resident, i.e. a tourist or similar, or else no service. Tough, very tough!
