I do not have the Epson 6030UB, but I have a Epson 6020UB projecting with a Panamorph 480 lens. You will not be disappointed with the combination of the 6030 and a Panamorph lens.
By the way, my projection screen is the Stewart StudioTeK 130, 1.3 gain, 12x6 ft, and I am very please with the total combination. Hope this helps.

Was waiting for CEDIA to see if Epson announced a 6040/5040 but they aren't. So my question is for 6030 owners who upgraded from a 6010, can you give me an idea what I can expect in differences? I know the 3D glasses are now RF but I'm not sure what other improvements have been made in the 6020 then in the 6030 from the 6020.

Thanks!
I am in the same boat and have the same question - has anyone gone from 6010 to 6030?

What are the major differences besides going from ir to rf for the glasses? Noticible improvements?

I went from a 5010 to 6030. If it weren't for the recent firmware, I would tell you that there was a good minimal difference but I am no expert by any means. It wasn't mind blowing but the PQ was definitely sharper. The firmware added fairly aggressive SR adjustments which I really like and the PQ is fantastic now. Sold my 5010 on eBay fast which included the 6030 mount and a pair of it glasses and that offset the 6030 cost, otherwise, I don't think the cost would have justified the upgrade. But, going from white to black also helped as my ceiling is black. I'll try to find what I got for the 5010 and number of hours if you need that info.

The biggest difference for me was recently upgrading my screen from an Elite 120 to Stewart Cima Neve 123. The Elite "sparkled" in the middle especially in lighter scenes which always annoyed me. Love the Neve. Not sure if that helps.

Thanks for the info!

Any chance you have watched "live die repeat edge of tomorrow" in 3D on the 6030? I was watching it on my 6010 and when the battle scene started it was "all over the place" (crosstalk?) and unwatchable. I haven't had any issues with any other 3D Movies. This was another reason I was thinking of going to the 6030....

3D is great on the 6030. Also, you get a 3 year warranty on the 6030.

So you have watched "live die repeat edge of tomorrow" in 3D on the 6030?

Yes. I enjoyed it. There were no issues for me or my wife with the 3D.

I have not but you got me thinking. I did watch more 3D movies on the 5010 than the 6030 so far. In a sense, I guess I can make the argument that regular Blu-rays are so good and sharp on the 6030 that I've just been bypassing 3D altogether... pre- and post- screen upgrade.
Btw, I use a onkyo tx-nr3009 doing video processing and Panasonic bdt-220.
Still stand by the offset to justify cost difference, otherwise, I would have waited for a next-gen projector around the same price point.
Never heard of the movie until you mentioned it and it's my kind of movie so I ordered it. Not sure how to thank you for the upcoming wife inquisition! Will watch this weekend pending kids and their desire to watch Frozen or Rise of the Guardians for the one billionth time. [emoji1] Will let you know.
PS Pacific Rim 3D is eye candy but dumb-dumb movie if that helps.

Cool - glad to hear it worked for you. What size screen are you projecting on? Wonder if it's my copy of the movie or just the 6010 with IR....

Please let us know how the 3D turns out. I am also using an Onkyo 3009 and my player is an Oppo bdp-93.

Pacific Rim plays just fine in 3D. So does Gravity, Life of Pi, as well as others. Bummed this one doesn't work as I was going to invite the neighbors over for movie night.

Will do. Love the Onkyo, you? I'm on the fence around Oppo.

Watched live die repeat tonight in 3D and it was fine, no issues. Cool movie. Could it be the disc you have or just that the 6030 has more horsepower, brightness and/or difference in ir vs rf glasses, etc...just reaching.

Another thing I am noticing is that my projector is saying high power or normal on lamp brightness now. Eco mode has gone away. Is something wrong with this projector?

Glad to hear it worked. I have a few things I am going to try to see if it makes any difference.
