Actually I was thinking 8-bits/color subsampled (4:2:0), which comes out to 12 total bits per pixel IIRC. Of course we're getting 10 bits/pixel, which would be 20 bits I think with 4:2:0 subsampling.

But if we are talking about truly uncompressed video then that would mean using 4:4:4 or RGB since 4:2:0 is a form of compression.

I just got a LG 60UH8500 and I downloaded both the 1080 and 4K versions of Tear of Steel so I could see the difference. I downloaded both of the *.mov files to a USB drive and played them on my TV with that USB drive. Even though there was a difference in the two versions, it was barely noticeable. Did I do something wrong? Do I need to burn those files to a blu-ray to get the full effect?

Probably because the TV upscales the 1080p content to 4K?
