Hi everybody,
i'm new in this forum and, by now, all i can say is thank you.
I'm an italian non-happy owner of the x500.
I bought it one month ago, giving back my old x35, and i'm having some problem...
It looks that nobody in Italy can help me (not too many people, here, own projectors...)
So, i ask you for some help...

I'll try to explain my problems, and, of course, sorry for my english.

It looks like it's impossible to find the correct focus on the image.
By entering in the focus setting, i noticed two strange things...
1) the green scheme (i don't know how to name it in english, maybe "pattern"?) is not stable. It looks like the green lines move a little up and down.
2) while setting the focus, there is an exact moment, near (only NEAR) to the perfect focus, in wich happens something like a "clik", a "step" and ALL the pattern moves to the left or to the right... just a little, but it MOVES!!!

Foolish...
I'm crying, now, thinking to my old, very old, barcographics 808s...

my firmware on the X500R is r210.3

Any suggestion?
Thanks for the help and, once again, sorry for my english!!!!

Hi jack

Just a thought......just try switching e-shift off first and see if that makes it easier or not to focus. Not sure if it will work but it's worth a try......

Alredy done...
No apparent difference on the pattern when the Eshift is on or off...
The problem remains: the green lines they tremble.

Maybe try a firmware update to see if that helps. Your on r1210.3.......my projector is on r1211.6.
I'm not saying it will resolve it but again it's worth a try I think. It's quite a complex job to do it......so personally I'd get your dealer to do it for you.

Good idea.
I'll try to contact my dealer, and we'll try to update the firmware..
If othing happens, the X500 will be sent to JVC.
And maybe i'll buy a Sony.

This time, JVC let me down.

Any time you use the internal test patterns to adjust focus, shift, and zoom e-shift is automatically enabled even if you've disabled it in the menus. It just automatically turns back on when you open these patterns. This is something JVC needs to fix. I'd turn off the test patterns so you can adjust the focus without e-shift being enabled. Before you do this go into the MPC menu and turn everything down to zero. Turn eshift off. Enhance, Dynamic Contrast, Smoothing, and Noise Reduction should all be at 0. Then go under the Installation menu and choose Lens Control. In that menu turn Image Pattern to Off. Then pull up the focus control and go up to the screen and adjust the lens until the word "Focus" is in perfect focus. The lens is very good so the rest of the focus across the image should be dead on too even when it's focused in the middle.

I've got to say that for me......when I went to focus the projector......I turned e-shift off then focused using the test patterns and when I went back to the e-shift settings......it was still switched off so I just turned it back on.

It doesn't matter what the menu setting is. It will always enable eshift when you bring up the test pattern. If you turn it off in the menu, it will just re-enable it when you bring up one of the test patterns and then turn off when you exit out of the test pattern.

Strange thing happened:

First i set up all the e-shift value to 0, and then switched off e-shift.
Then, i went to the "focus" setting, and the test pattern was perfect, with no tremors...
Finally, i set up the focus and get back to play a movie.

Put again "on" the E-shift, and now everything looks to work fine...

I'll test again later...
but at the moment, it look thah tere is no problem either in the movies image or in the test pattern.

Thank you again!

Not as strange as you may think. This is one of the MPC controls that makes the pattern lines shift like that. Most likely the Smoothing control. Just keep that off (set to 0). In fact, the only MPC control that I ever use on my X500 is Enhance and even then I keep it between 10-15 at the max. The other controls I keep off because in truth they do more harm to the image than good.

Quick question folks..I purchased a RS4910 and am going to wall mount it. Could you please help me find a suitable mount that will work with the 4910. There are so many universal mounts out there, however, I want to make sure that it works with 4910. Any help is appreciated.

Since you plan to wall mount it I would suggest getting a shelf built by someone for you. Be sure to use strong material and mounts that can hold over 40 pounds. I had a carpenter build a shelf for me.
