Greetings!

Now a proper home owner, I'm setting up something I've always wanted!  Not so simple it turns out.

Room dimensions below in embedded PNG.

ceiling = 79"

The 12' distance is my general available space to put a projector.  The 12' shown is from the front of the projector to the screen.  The pull down (electric) must exist within the 30" offsets as shown to allow access to the cabinetry behind it (speakers are there).

70/30 Movies/Games

Room is light controlled well.

After hours of research, I came to the conclusion that I think I want the Sony 55ES, but that said I'm not terribly stuck on it.  Just seemed like I could grow old studying the options and it was time to make a choice.

I ran into trouble when trying to spec the projector into the room to find the screen size.  Namely, throw ratio information did not exist at projector central or on Sony datasheet itself.  Does anybody know this information??

From the calculator from projector central, I'm substituting the 55ES for a 50ES because they don't have the 55ES in their options.  Hence the question for the throw distance.  When you input the 50ES, it returns the following information:

   Sony HW50ES, 12' Throw

   36deg viewing angle @ 11.1'

   99" (8.25') diagonal, [49x86" HxL]

This will be a ceiling mount.

Can these projectors change the screen size?  I was hoping to get 10' diag as I prefer sitting close, but if this isn't feasible or is flat out poor application I can live with the smaller sizes.  Any guidance here is especially appreciated.

I have not purchased the proj/screen etc, so I'm still flexible.  On that note, what are the best online sites to buy from?

Fwiw, I cannot run the projector the other way across this room.

Thank you all for your time and help.

Plug in your numbers. The zoom ratio is on the left. Do screen size first.

AVS sales http://shop.avscience.com/

Call them for pricing.

Oh geez,

I had not realized the Zoom window was a slider bar!! That answered a lot of questions I had.. Including one about, potentially using the device in a larger room..

So it looks like I could get a 10' in the smaller space available...

Thanks again for the help!

- Nathan

It is still unclear if the throw ratio on the 55ES is the same as the 50ES?
