Thinking of buying my first projector after experiencing the amazing picture quality of a relative's JVC DLA X90 which made me decide projectors>TV's. Unfortunately my budget does not allow me to buy a projector in the same price range as the X90 so i've shortlisted 3 projectors, the JVC X35, Sony WH50ES and the Epson 5030UB but can't decide which one to get. I will be using the projector in a fully light controlled room on a screen between 120 to 150 inches diagonal. Will be using the projector for mostly viewing movies and sometimes sports and gaming. I've read the X35 has terrible input lag for gaming but I won't be doing any online gaming so not sure how much the lag will bother me for offline gaming. I know all three are excellent projectors but I just can't decide on one. Hopefully some of the experts here can help me decide :D

Will also consider other recommendations around $3.5k, right now i'm leaning towards the Sony 50ES as the price has been reduced to $3k while the x35 costs $3.5k and comes without 3D glasses, i'm also a bit pessimistic that the 5030UB will be as good as the other 2 considering it is $1k cheaper than the x35 and is 3LCD.

If you like the picture on the x90 the x35 won't be too far off. The native contrast of the jvc pjs are very nice

Is the 50ES as good as the X35 ? Since the price has dropped from $4000 to $3000, It seems the 50ES would be a better deal as it also comes with 3D glasses, a spare bulb and is 500 bucks cheaper than the X35.

There is no better! It's what fits your situation, if you have a light controlled room and not a huge screen then it's hard to beat the native contrast and native sharpness of the x35,

The sony will be more of a multipurpose does good in most situations pj

What size would you consider a huge screen? I guess what i'm trying to ask is that is the X35 worth the extra $800 over the 50ES ? That is how much more expensive it will be if I buy 2 glasses and an emitter (or whatever it's called) along with it. I loved the X90, awesome pic quality, contrast etc but it was hooked up to a pretty big screen, i'm guessing at least 150 inches or more and the brightness just seemed a little too low. Maybe i'm used to extra bright flat panels LOL.

I'm borrowing a friends x30 and using it on my 126diag screen and it's plenty bright, light controlled bat cave though.
