Panasonic AE3000 to AE8000 or Sony VPL-VW350ES

Hi Guys!

I started out with a Panasonic AE1000 in 2006, I upgraded to a Panasonic AE3000 in 2008. I truly do love this projector. Back then, it seemed like the best bang for the buck, and anyone who views the quality today on my 159" Da-Lite screen, is still amazed.

I told myself that next time my bulb goes out, I'm going to upgrade to the AE8000. Bulb went out today, Yay me! I was about to purchase until I thought about 4k.

So, should I upgrade to the VPL-VW350ES, or buy the AE8000 now and wait for 4k to drop in price and get more content? I do want something long term, at least 5 years.

Also, side question, if I do choose to upgrade to the AE8000, is it a huge improvement over the AE3000? Might have to ask this one in the under 3k area.

I had a AE3000 and upgraded to the AE4000. That was a nice step up.

But then I had a lightning strike and insurance bought me a new AE8000. Now that's a huge update from the AE4000! It is so very much brighter than the 4000 (even with a new bulb) that it's day and night (figuratively). With a 159" screen, you will probably really love the AE8000.

One one nice thing: it should fit your current mount without any changes.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to get the ae8000 and wait for more 4k content before I make the next plunge. Hopefully Panasonic will have a 4k projector by then. I've been very happy with my Past purchases.
