Yes! Im in Australia, so it was a PAL DVD. Whilst I was really impressed with the blacks etc (Dark Scenes in Terminator 2), every few seconds there would be this flash/streak of rainbow somewhere on the screen, which would really make you jump. Even besides that, the whole picture was very tiring to view.
Maybe, as you say, its due to the refresh rate. However, besides the colour wheel problem, Im also thinking that since CRT's pixels dont switch on and off imediately.. (ie. they glow for a little while), that they are less sensative to refresh rate.
Infact, the whole interlace principle was founded from long persistance CRT displays used in early CAD where the pixel would remain lit for a second or two, giving time for the slow computers to redraw the screen.
Still, it seems like 1-chip DLP is flawed. I'll see if I can find a DILA somewhere around here. Have bulb costs come down for those yet ?
