Anyone had any experience with a Davis DLX650, compared to the trusty DL450. I was thinking of swapping.

FWIW, the DLX650 was on my short list with the VT540, UP1100, and SharpVision II (?). The DLX650 was eliminated because at the time I was looking (~6-7 months ago) it still had a problem with its video. This problem was reported (here) to have been fixed with a firmware upgrade.
Good luck!
