I've tried to find this in several places including Sharp's website, but no luck. The projection calculator at projectorcentral.com only calculates throw distances for 4:3 aspect ratios, and I'm not sure how to convert the results to my situation. Can anyone who has this projector tell me from the manual or whatever what the throw distance would be for a 16:9 screen that is 96" x 54"? I need to have a throw distance of at least 17' and I saw this projector at a dealer recently and it seemed to have a longer throw than the Sony 10HT. (Yes, I forgot to ask about the throw distance at the dealer as I was just casually looking at the time.) Thanks.

To calculate your throw distance for a 16:9 screen using the formula available for a 4:3 screen just figure out what a 4:3 screen's height with a width of 96" would be. That would give you a screen size of 96"x72" in a 4:3 mode. Figure the throw distance for that screen size and that will work for your 16:9 screen.

Using the info I just posted I checked the throw distance calculator at Projector Central and came up with 13.8 to 18.8 ft. Hope that helps!

I thought that would be the idea, but the calculation seems to yield results that are not correct, i.e., they do not match the throw distances of the few projectors that I have information on the throw distance from the manufacturer. Perhaps the calculator is not up to date or there is some other issue. Anybody with a DW100U know the correct throw distance?

Out of the owner's manual a 106" diagonal (92" x 52"), the throw distances are 14' to 18' 3".
