I've been interested in getting a LP340, however I put it on hold in light of the yet to be released Infocus HT projector. I thought by waiting I had nothing to loose, but now I'm concerned. On this forum I read that Infocus will be making the current LP340 less HT friendly in the near future. This demands I make a decision sooner than I anticipated.

Assuming the new Infocus HT projector uses the 16:9 DMD chip with a resolution of 848 x 480. Is this any improvement over the current LP340? The 16:9 mode resolution is the same, but when in 4:3 mode the LP340 should be vastly superior resolution wise. Am I missing something here?

By the way, I can't step up to the LP350, $3000 is my budget. And no DILA is not an option since lamp life and price is important. This unit will be used, 40% TV, 40% DVD and 20% video games. A 2000 hour bulb will last about a year in my house.

I'm in a similar position except I won't be buying till January. By then, I'll probably be able to get an LP350 for $3000. Who knows what else will be available by then?

Althought InFocus has stopped making the LP340 with the superior video processor and is now making the LP340B the Boxlight CD-455M which is identical to the original LP340 will continue to have the same high quality video processor.

I would assume that the LP350 and the Boxlite would also the go the way of the LP340.

yo avi,
If $3,000 is your limit, maybe you can stretch out a few more hundred and get the NEC lt150, which has gotten many good reviews, only one or two bad ones, and the price has dropped to about $3250 was the last one I saw.

I have considered it, however that 1000 hr. lamp life would kill me. The projector is to be installed in our family room where it will see at least 1500 hrs. use annually.
