Hypothetical question. My DLS8 is having a few hickups (overheating) but far from dead (I hope)

However, as it seems Davis is dead or dying, if I needed to replace it, which projector would I go for? Basically, I'm pretty happy with the DLS8 quality on HTPC. So what would I get to be equally happy or more?

In a German mag, they say the Eiki LCVM1 has a blacklevel that rivals DLP. Sony has new small XGA LCD projectors out as well. Any good? Anything on the DLP front I should look at here in Europe, like the 3M Moviedream?

A year ago when I read this forum, everyone was talking 'Davis', now the field seems more spread out. Is there no single heir to the Davis?
