Sony 350ES 4k projector - How long can I get away with ignoring the Bulb replace sign

My 350 just started showing the replace bulb message when I turn it on. How long can I get away with not replacing it before things may start to degrade?

Interested to know how many hours you have on the unit? High, low lamp time etc...

You can go until either the lamp gets too dim or until the lamp completely dies. If you go until the lamp dies, then you better hope that it is a peaceful death and not an exploding one. A lamp exploding in your projector may not damage the projector, but it could.

I would call Mike at AVS. If there are issues with a bad bulb, you have the peace of mind that AVS will stand behind the purchase and make it a low hassle resolution. Plus, I would imagine they will offer an attractive price.

That does not have anything to do with buying a lamp.

I've been using the same bulb on my Panasonic AE-3000 since the Iran-Contral scandal in 86'.

Scratch that, she finally died today. The picture flickered a lot for a moment and then the image went black. Unplugged it and let it sit for a bit, turned it back on and power flowed, but no picture ever came up. RIP. Will have to buy a new bulb (hopefully that is all it needs) very soon.

You told Javs about 3000 hours, was that on high lamp mode _ you didn't say ?
They must be driven pretty hard to only get 3000 hours _ even in high lamp mode, I would expect at least 5000.

Yep, High mode (said in another thread, may have forgot to post that here). It get's used quite a lot for business meetings and also my own personal use. Will have to buy that replacement bulb asap, just hoping that the bulb replacement is the only thing that is wrong with it. It started flickering a little a few days ago but went away. Then just this morning started flickering hardcore for about 5 seconds and then went to black. Never came back on :[
