Ceiling Mount Frustrations I need help finding a new one.

I have my new Sony 665 set up and I'm having the same projector mount issues.

My mount is solid to the ceiling but theres a lot of wobble to the mount. My local AV store installed it and it's the second one. I'm at the point where they are completely incompetent in resolving my issue and I would like to look into it on my own.

My projector is heavy 30lbs and needs to hang about 12inches so I can clear a bulk head. They have some tape thing rigged up but it's not working the way I want.

Can anyone recommend a high quality projector mount that I can make minor adjustments to so I can get it dialled in just right?

It appears that they put electrical tape around the telescoping portion but it's not working. Here's my current electrical tape massacre they did...

I think you should look at Chief Mfg. I've owned one and plan on getting another one for my JVC. Lol I hope that electrical tape is to help support the down rod. Looks like it's just holding wires to the extension pole.

haha no electrical tape is not for any support. It is there at the top to stop the wobble.

Chief RPMx, I'm very happy with mine, wish I'd gone that route a lot sooner.

Also, FWIW, you can just use standard plumbing black pipe/fittings for the tube and ceiling plate, Chief uses standard NPT fittings.

I hate to insult anyone's setup, but that mount looks like a piece of crap !

I agree, it's terrible.

I'm going to go with the Chief.

So many options on the ceiling plate.

If you would like help with parts selection, shoot me an email. I actually have the same mount. Purchased it many years ago. Took one look at it and never pulled it out of the box. Still sitting in the box it came in, in my garage. it is a piece of junk.
