I have the 50'. No problem sending 4K with HDR at 24p. I do have the Oppo sending 12 bit 4:4:4. I do not have a 4K 60P source.

Just a heads up. Monoprice is having a 20% off promo code for that applies to this cable. Use "CNET20". I just picked up a 30' run. Couldn't wait for the upcoming cable review and needed to install the cable now. Hope it works.

Edit: code expires 4/30/17

Can anyone stick a multimeter on both ends of the HDMI shield jacket and tell me if they get conductivity?

I will buy one in a second if it will get rid of my ground loop.

A ground loop which is created by the outer HDMI shield...

I assume you are talking about the gold connector on each end. Yes, I did get conductivity. The number 5 pin is ground, but I have not found anything small enough to fit in the hole to check. I though small paper clips would fit, but they are too big.

Yeaj the outside of the connector not the pins inside.

If you got conductivity on the outside then there is copper in the cable as stated earlier, thats a shame.

Wont fix ground loops.

Celerity cable needed then.

Wait Mike do you also have a celerity cable? Any way you can do the same test on that?

I actually just got the SlimRun AV (not HDR) cable in the mail today....sigh....I didn't realize that the HDR version existed.

I have since requested an RMA and placed an order for the 50' HDR version.

Crossing my fingers that this passes 4:4:4 from my Denon 4300H to my JVC 420!

We have one at the shop. Let me see what I can do.

I had them check the Celerity cable we have and they said no continuity on it.

Thanks Mike, thats a shame.

The Monoprice cable is definitely out then for fixing any kind of ground loop.

I purchased a 75 ft version of Monoprice Slimrun HDR. I was able to feed 4K@60Hz 10bit HDR 4:2:0 through it smoothly (playing "Man in the high castle" using Amazon Video - Roku Premiere+).

But I was not able to make ARC work. Did anyone manage to make ARC work?

ARC doesn't work with optical HDMI.

Do you know how they manage to make ARC work for Celerity? I was hoping this cable can do the same magic (at 1/2 the price)

I'm not sure how the Celerity cable passes ARC. I don't believe optical HDMI cables are bi-directional, so I don't see how ARC would work.

They have to be bi-directional for CEC to work. Bi-directional is no problem for fiber in other applications, not sure why it would be a problem for HDMI.

What am I missing?

Some optical HDMI cables will run a few copper pairs for things like ARC, CEC, alongside the fiber for bidirectional comms.

FWIW, I bought the 75' SlimRun AV HDR from Monoprice. It works well @ 4k60p, CEC works fine, but does not support ARC. I ordered a Toslink at the same time and ran it alongside the SlimRun cable, TV audio works on the AVR as expected.

I've had mine hooked up for around a week now, and it works great. Not unexpectedly, it's much easier to pull and maneuver compared to 24awg HDMI cable. I don't have a 4K source or TV yet, but I will soon enough.

Question Any failures of monoprice SlimRun AV HDR for HDMI?

Has anyone had any failures of these cables? I am planning to do an in-wall installation and am wondering if I should should run 2 cables, having one for backup...

Thanks

I would run smurf-tube or similar to be able to pull a cable later. You can guarantee that in 10 years time, whatever we have today will be obsoleted and require a new cable then.

Im no expert, but I would expect it is going to depend on how straight the run is. You certainly dont want sharp bends with either fiber or HDMI cable.

I just ran (4) 100ft slimrun av hdr cables through house. They are very very delicate. The outer rubber coating can easily damaged. We ended up pulling 3-4 ft at a time to avoid damage.

The cable is very light and flexible. Make sure you unroll the entire cable television on the floor and walk the cable through your hand at least 5 times to eliminate the twists from the roll shape it's shipped in. The cable loves to twist and it's very thin = bad combination.

I'll be able to let everywfknow soon if they work after being ran through the framing.
