Yep, that's what 24fps looks like on my Pearl too, during motion scenes.

nVidia 6600 LE

Will be upgrading to the 7800 GT in the near future, I think, though I should probably get an HDCP compliant card, for future-proofing the machine.

Anyone hear about the new JVC R1 everyone has been raving about? Was over at that thread and I mentioned something about the noise level of the fan in there specs and the few people thought I called there baby ugly. LOL Seems a few people over there are a tad touchy, I am not sure if waiting for this projector is going to yeild a much greater PQ at a cost of $2500 more. I just haven't had good luck with JVC, as I am sure the same goes for some people about Sony. There are a few people that have seen it, most haven't and they are ordering off of specs and limited reviews, not sure if I should fence sit till CES is over or try to buy a Pearl now at a decent price or wait on the JVC......

The price difference is nowhere near $2500.

kanefsky: Then that is good news...... JVC doesn't discount and usually sticks right at there retail price which most dealers tend to follow. Now this is coming from a guy I know that is a JVC dealer, so hopefully you are correct.

If you happened to be one of the many who got in on the preorder deal, the Pearl and RS1 were so close in price that price was a non factor for a lot of people. That was how close they were in price.

Donnerhead: A preorder on the RS1? This thing isn't being released till Feb. if memory serves me right. I sure am not going to preorder and or think of buying a unit till I see it in person, too much money on hand to take a risk.... The Pearl I have seen several times now, and each time I am very impressed.

Saw both the Pearl and RS1 prototype at Cedia. Both looked incredible, but the RS1 had a little something extra Enough so that I was trying to figure out how to save more to get it over the Pearl, even at the $7000 it was going to come in at. When the preorder price hit, it was a no brainer

I do agree with you though. If I had not experienced what I did, I would be skeptical as well.

i had been seriously considering the Pearl (to replace my Marantz S3); but ultimately decided to get on the RS1 preorder list.

then a Pearl kinda dropped into my lap. i picked it up last Sunday and have been enjoying it since. i also ordered the Crystalio II video processor, which arrived Wednesday. i did a minimal set-up on the Pearl......pretty much plug and play. the Pearl was very impressive right out of the box. Wednesday night i inserted the C2 into the chain and everything got better; sharper, punchier and simply more refined. the C2 was easy for me (mostly a novice) to figure out and has the most intuative and easy to navigate interface i've ever seen on something this sophisticated.

anyway; the Pearl/C2 combo, with minimal adjustment, is pretty damn good.

last night my ISCO III lens arrived; and next week i'll have my da-lite 1.5 115" x 49" 2:35-1 screen with mechanized masking for CH. hopefully Tryg will figure out a mounting system for the lens soon.

my plan is to purchase the RSI when the preorder ships and compare them side by side.

One person has reported this, but others have used a scaler outputting 1080p24fps and don't see tearing.

mike lavigne: we will need to see pics of course. I might hold off on my HS51 sale and wait till after CES before I make my final choice. After seeing the Sony Pearl, I must say I could be very happy with that puppy for along time. JVC just scares me, because I have had issues with QC with many other products, just hope there FPs are put together better. I heard they are trying to keep the price low to compete with other manufactuers, like Sony etc... If you look at the street price of the Pearl 3800-3900 and compare that to the R1, it better be a ton better if it is a lot more expensive. Granted I have a room that doesn't need to burn the image in to your retina LOL Brighter isn't always better, but it sounds like the R1 does a lot of things right, so some say....

Is there a list of scalers that will output 24fps?

Just trying to read up old Pearl thread!
