I have the following:

JVC G1000
Panamorph P752
Oppo 970 HD running component 1080i
XBox 360 with HDDVD running into computer 2
PS3 still in the box plan on running component 1080i

The Oppo looks great. Its SD looks better than the 360 HDDVD.

The Xbox 360 supports the following resolutions when using the VGA AV connector: 640×480, 848×480, 1024×768, 1280×720, 1280×768, 1280×1024, 1360×768, and 1920×1080. Which one should I use? 1368x768 seems to look the best. What do I set the source to? Auto seems to be the only one that works.

The 360 does not have any other picture controls except resolution. The G1000 computer 2 input only has brightness and contrast (RGB) adjustments. The HD ans SD DVDs look muddy. Not as sharp and vibrant as the oppo. I have also tried changing the color temp. I even added an extron distribution amp.

I'm I missing something? I also bought a PS3. I am a little hesitant to open it given my xbox experience. It would go in 1080i component. I am just worried it will not look as good as the oppo even with Blueray movies.

Thanks for your help,
Bren

Bren,

In general, the older G series projectors looked their best when using an external Y/Pb/Pr to RGBHV decoder and feeding a 1080i signal into the Computer 2 input. This assuming your 1080i source is YPbPr.

There are bandwidth limitations in the internal component matrix decoder that don't exist in the Computer 2 input. As I recall, you can't feed 1080i into the projector via the VGA (Computer 1) input, you'll need a VGA to BNC breakout cable.

I don't have any experience hooking an XBox 360 to any of the older series projectors, someone here might, you'll just have to wait and see.

I opened the PS3. It looks much like the Oppo going in component. Some guys said to get a KD VGA transcoder to feed the component into Comp 2. But the xbox HDDVD looks muddy on the VGA.

Come on guys. I know your out there...
