I ended up buying the 55ES after having the 60 recalibrated with a new lamp. Very happy with the 55ES after approx. 200 hours.

I'll sell my 60 to anyone in the continental states for $500 plus freight. Jeff Meier did a great job with his calibration, but the issues that age has brung in the darker scenes led me to the new projector.

See ya. Dave

Try Sony, e.g.: http://www.sonybiz.ca/pro/lang/en/ca...h200/overview/

Manufacturers should be able to deliver original spare parts for their products for at least 10 years after the product was discontinued. For the CPL-VW60 this should be April 2019.

Please let us know. I have heard many horror stories with non-OEM bulbs that personally I would not risk the hassle. Sony still has the LMP-H200 available (see the link in my previous post above), so it should not be too difficult to get on OEM bulb.

It's a real Phillips Bulb/Lamp according to them. Sony doesn't make bulbs. So they claim to buy the same bulb/lamp from Phillips and put it in their own housing. They bulb/lamp is the same.

Well, as I said, please let us know. Don't forget you'd also have to change the filter when you replace the lamp.

That's a serious question on the filter. Unless a lamp just comes with one I didn't order one. Thought it could be pulled and cleaned or washed out. If not where does one purchase one? Much thanks.

Pulled it and cleaned it. Actually not that dusty considering it's never been done. Yes, I am a bad PJ owner.

Is it possible for the VW 60 display the resolution of the video signal it's receiving?

Thanks,

Jack

Hours counter?

I acquired a VPL-VW60 by buying the house around it.

The hours counter (not sure what else to call it) says it's at a little over 1500 hours. I bought a spare bulb from AVS because I want to wait to replace the PJ for an affordable 4k option.

I'm wondering whether the counter is displaying the total hours the PJ has been used, or if it resets when the bulb is changed (i.e. is 1500 hours the lamp time, or the total PJ time). Can anyone answer this simple question?

Also, since I didn't see it when it was new I'm not exactly sure how much if at all the picture has degraded due to lamp aging. What should I look for to determine whether I need to replace the bulb now or wait a bit longer?

I'm no expert but fairly certain that the hours are what's been accumulated since the last reset.

Go to the Service Menu, by pressing

{ENTER} {ENTER} {UP ARROW} {DOWN ARROW} {ENTER}

This should tell you the cumulative hours on this projector's usage.
