I'm still a fan of the 'softer' look. you know, stuff that's several miles off in the distance SHOULDN'T be that clear. I'm blind in my left eye, so that's how I see 3D I guess. which sharpness so high, it makes stuff look like it's in focus when it definitely shouldn't be, and that leads to a very 2D looking image for me.

to each his own of course

I asked the same thing and never got a response. In all of his screenshots skin looks like melted plastic. My x90 looks loads better.

he likes the overly sharp look, whatever.

got a question for you guys, do you think these screenshots might actually be slightly practical for comparisons if we grabbed a screen capture from the web, and took a pic of that instead?
like, instead of taking a pic of the projector playing a bluray, take a pic of the projector displaying a high resolution picture. then you can look at the screen shot and compare it directly to the picture that's available online.

i was thinking about this the other night for some reason... maybe i'll try it

I think the problem with screenshots is that they will vary greatly since there are so many variables. The camera, lighting in the room, projector settings, etc. all affect the shot. I am not sure I would rely on screenshots to compare projector images at all. IMHO, it would be better to find someone whose opinion you trust and rely on their reviews. Of course, the best option is to audition them in your home, but that is not an option for most. As far as the picture from the web, I am not sure how it would make a difference. Any of the variables above would affect a screen grab of a web picture in the same way it affects a frame from a Blu-ray.

i didn't really mean compare for the sake of making a buying a decision. just in the general sense.

just seems like these screen shot threads are totally useless right now, as there's zero control whatsoever. i may see an image and really like it, but it's nowhere close to the way it's 'supposed' to be.

i thought perhaps including a copy of the photo being displayed for reference would as least let me compare it to the original source, and give me a better idea of what is being shown.

i definitely still wouldn't buy or not buy a projector based on a screen shot. if anything, this thread is a good example of how settings can really change the way something looks
