I get frustrated taking screenshots. Freaking batteries die out so fast with these new cameras. My wife tells me to shut it down after every shot but thats just insane.

I dug up one of our older Kodak EasyShares and took a few shots in night mode but the batteries died on me and I just got tired of it. I must have gone through 10 batteries one night.

I need some tips. 8) I almost looked to see if they had some kind of AC adapter for any of our cameras but figured they probably didnt.

I also noticed that when the PS3 is paused the image blurs just a tad. I compared the moving images to the paused images and when you pause it there appears to be a little noticeabl delay and the picture is not as sharp as it is when playing.

My HD-DVD player doesnt appear to have this issue. Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a bum PS3? It is one of the launch night ones. 8)

Oh, and the image from the PS3 is immaculate when playing .. its just that the paused image looks a very slight smidge blurrier. Enough to make the paused image look not as sharp as the playing image.

Cliffy, take a screenshot of Gwen's dad. Same one as Casey's AE2000 shot. The one that Art really likes. I know he took it at your house, with your PS3 I assume.

My previous shots were taken from PS3, too. They are pretty just they dont appear to be as sharp to me as they do when played. It might be psychological but the HD-DVD images look sharper than the same exact paused shots on the PS3. I was doing A/Bs with 300 on both HD-DVD and PS3 the other night, via my RX-V1800.

Ill put up some new shots in night mode from HD-DVD and PS3. I havent seen the ones I took the other night because I havent replaced the batteries in that camera yet. When they died I just gave up. I do have a few to put up.

Ill check out your other shots tomorrow when I get up. Cant wait to see them.

overclkr, sorry if this is a dumb question but what are stacked G90's? On the bottom of your post it says 6 Gunz a Blazin so my guess would be 2 G90's but have no idea how that works. I'm new to front projection so I'm not familure with CRT projectors but am interested in your setup. BTW wasn't the retail on those around 35k each and after looking online they are still around 12k used which would put it in the realm of the SIM2 HT5000 not the AE2000 or RS-1 which are a fraction of the cost. Does anyone have shots of a digital 10K plus projector such as the 3CX 1080 or Marantz VP15S1. Would those compete or come close to the G90?

In a stack such as Cliffy's, the picture from a second projector is overlaid on the picture from a second. The big gain is in brightness, not a strong suit of CRTs. So yes, there are six CRT guns and 6 CRT lenses. CRTs are king of the blacks. When you stack, the black reference levels double, not a good thing, but by appying the right gamma curves, the blacks can be brought down to the levels of a single CRT while still preseving the double brightness at higher IRE levels. The one problem with a stack is obtaining a perfect overlay. Small errors will reduce sharpness. But Cliify's is pretty damn sharp. Certainly sharper than Cliffy.

This is my personal favorite. I know this thread is for our personal screenshots but this guy's takes the cake. It is W.Mayer's screenshot. I believe it is a Christie 3 chipper with a 275" wide screen!

Many people with stacked CRTs had or had them in large theaters. I have been in at least three stack or blend CRT home theaters now Fan noise has been essentialy unnoticeable but since I have a CRT myself and its sits only a few feet behind me perhaps I have learned to tune it out, But once any sound is on, the sound really disappears. No one has ever complained about the fan noise.

Further at CRT parties, everyone keeps chanting "look at them blacks" "Oh, my god" and the chants drown out any fan noise.

What did ART go with after the stack? I'm confused, I thought a G90 stack was the holy grail of setups. Why the change?

How to identify a future projector owner, he's the kid sitting two feet from the 42" plasma.

He went from 11ft wide 16:9 to 14ft wide 2:35. CRT's cannot light up that big of a screen respectfully. He chose the HT5000 for the job.

Hello all,

I was able to get a couple of shots with the 50mm lens. I took a couple of pictures of the same movies I had seen earlier on this thread. I cropped and resized the images in Photoshop Elements, but otherwise did no processing.

Camera: Canon EOS 10d, ISO 100, 50mm @ f 1.8, JPEG.

Source: Sony BDP-S301 -> Component 1080i -> Crystalio II -> Component 720p -> Runco Cl-710 (HD1 DLP, no digital inputs) -> Goo Systems 92" 16x9.

(I have a U85 CIH lens not yet mounted. I'll repeat these shots when it is.)

Yes, I moved to a three chip DLP (SIM HT 5000) and have not looked back. There were many things in the 3 Chip column which made it way better for my install and the head to head comparisons in my theater of the stack against this projector in March made it a must have for me.

Been a while since I used a 10D but it should have some level of unsharp mask applied because it shoots soft even with L glass. The 10D uses a filter over the image sensor to reduce moire patterns but this filter reduces sharpness. Unsharp mask is needed to bring the sharpness back. Thought you might be interested in this plugin if you us a 10D. http://www.fredmiranda.com/10DCS/

Art. I am switching to the Sim2 C3x 1080p. I am concerned that on my Studeotech 130 110' 16:9 things may be too bright. I may change out my screen fabric to the new Grey Hawk to tone down the brightness and improve the blacks. I am going to talk to Don Stewart about this as I don't want the stuff in the middle to look strange. A ND filter might be a better way to go. What do you guys think?
