whoa whoa whoa, someone explain this credit card business to me...

I bought my tv from best buy with a discover card. Bought the warranty also for 2 yrs i think. How do i know if i get extra protection? I bought it online so all i have is saved emails and stuff for the proof. Do i get a four year warranty if my credit card supports it?

Check with your credit card company.

I was curious to see if Discover offers a free one year extended warranty and sadly, after a kwik check, they don't.

Only Master Card, Visa and Amex offer a free extra one year extended warranty.

I have a comment on buying by credit card to extend the warranty. I recently read in one of my Visa card's fine print (Bank of America or Capital One, don't recall which) that any purchase made beyond 100 miles of where I live is excluded from the extended warranty. That rules out all Internet purchases for me.

Folks should keep that fact in mind.

Holy sh.. man, way to bump a 3 y-o thread!!!

It was an online local classified ad (Kijiji).

For anyone who bothered to read the whole thread, well, my plasma is still going as good as the day I bought it!

I can buy two hdtvs with what I paid for it!

Man, the low prices of flat screens since the past three years... WOW!

If it's Capital One, they've changed this policy in the last three years. I bought my TV from Crutchfield in VA (I'm in California) and Capital One extended my warranty an extra year without any objection.

I also have a BofA Visa, but they whack me with so many fees I just shred their card when I get it.

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!
