Why would it change?

You didn't mention the model of your device, so we can only speculate generally. Could be the windings of an inductor or transformer vibrating, or the way the component is mounted. If so, only way to eliminate the sound would be to replace the offending component or the entire unit.

Sounds like its defective. Monster charges a LOT for their stuff, it should have a lifetime warranty, so use it.

yes sir you are right they SHOULD have a lifetime warranty but they told me 5 years mine is a year past that and they will offer me a new one at 50% discount but I don't know that is poor service imo

Nonsense. They owe you nothing because you are out of warranty. And they still offered you 50% off. That is good customer service.

If you expected a lifetime warranty, you should have made sure of that before you bought. You would have had a hard time finding it. MOV based surge protective devices have a limited, although not necessarily short, lifetime.

I will agree that usually Monster stuff is WAY overpriced..that said, they are being generous in trying to help you out a FULL YEAR out of your warranty.

A whole house surge protector mounted at your circuit breaker panel for ~$200 makes a lot more sense than a plug in surge protector attached to just one wall socket.
