OK, I'm ready to cut Cox Communications loose. I am paying over $100 per month for something I use 5 days per month. So, want to put up a directional antenna on the roof to pick up HDTV stations. I'm using a projection unit, so I'm guessing I need some kind of tuner as well. I'll probably keep the wireless internet active, so would like to be able to access webTV and then HDTV stations from the antenna.
Looking for advice on what to buy to make this all happen. Not necessarily looking for the cheap way out, but don't want to spend many hundreds of $ either.
Thank you in advance for your advice.
Brian, Newport, RI.

We need to know your location as to determine what type of antenna and preamp would best be suitable. And you definitely need an HD tuner for your projector. Consider PrimeDTV PHD-8VX or Channel Master 7000 DTVPal HD DVR.

Newport, RI.
The generic TVfool report for Newport, RI is:

If this happens to be correct for your house, note that Boston and Providence stations are in exactly the same azimuth. A 7-69 antenna such as the Winegard HD7698P would do fine, or you could stack a UHF only (DB-4 or similar) above a small VHF only (Y5-7-13).

You can add the antennas together with a UVSJ for a single TV set, or use an AP-2870 preamp for multiple TVs and/or better weak signal reception.
