Hello,
I just got a 65" Panasonic Vierra Plasma GT50. I have a 50" Panasonic too.

I have 1 dvr box with comcast that can be set at 1080p. This is hooked to the 50" in the family room
I have a 2nd comcast box that is the "slave" box to the dvr box in the family room. It can only be set to 1080i
I watch the Phillies in 1080p on the 50" through the dvr box and it looks amazing and I'll go downstairs and watch it on the 65" at 1080i on the slave box and i doesn't seem to look as good

1. Is there really that much difference between 1080i and 1080p ?
2. At 65" should i move the 1080p dvr to the larger tv and put the slave on the 50" tv?
3. Should i get a second dvr that has 1080p ?

Thanks!
Matt

No one broadcasts in 1080p the game is either being broadcast in 1080i or 720p.The TVs PQ could be the difference.

Your new TV probably does a better job of converting either 720p or 1080i programs recived over the Comcast cable to 1080p then their Set top Box does.

That makes sense. I'll keep it at 1080i for now. I think at 65", the imperfections will become more apparent even though it is this year's model.
Going to try different settings other than THX for sports

Thanks

It depends on the TV upscaler vs the upscaler in the DVR box. If the upscaler in the DVR box is better than the TV then you will get better results with DVR. The 1080i box should be set to native resolution so 720p material is upscaled properly to 1080p by the TV.
