In the past few days I have noticed a huge drop in my picture quality. Noenthing that was HD and looked it is looking like HD now. Picture is soft and mushy, even darker. There is none of the defininiton and sharpness of an HD signal. Looks like a modest SD digital signal acrross the board and not even very sharp for that. I have two sets, one fed by Comcast STB (SA 4250) and the other fed with cable card in set. Both show same effect. No connection changes, wiring changes etc. Anyone guess what may have happened? Comcast did add a bunch of HD channels back in June, but the PQ was fine before and after they did that....until this week.

Do you have any other high-def sources to compare, like a Blu-ray player?

At any rate, I suggest you contact your local Comcast company and complain. They might have done something which messed up the signal that you get.

Nope. I win the idiot of the week award. Turns out my sets were set to "Cinema" which makes all material, even the evening news, look like an old time movie. Not sure how it happnened. Sorry to bother you all. Sooner or later I always get tricked by the technology one way or another.

I think most modern TVs have far more settings than are actually needed for viewing accurate images, making it easy to accidentally set one of them wrong and then never be able to find it again...
