i have a panasonic gt50 and try connecting my external hd to it to watch movies but an error message comes up saying overload and it tells me to turn the tv off. once i turn it off and back on the tv says it doesnt have anything in its slot can someone please help. my external im using is the seagate for mac and pc
The tv may require the hard drive to be formatted with FAT32, although I'm not positive on that model. But if you are getting an "overload" message, it's likely the hard drive requires too much power and the tv's usb port doesn't provide it. Does the hard drive have an external power supply?
At a guess I would say that the dive is drawing too much power. If the drive is powered from the USB port like the small portable ones it is possibly overloading the 5 volts available from the TV. Try using a drive with an external power supply.
