Are you listening to Dolby encoded audio from HD or other ATSC signals? If so, does your converter decode Dolby?

It appears from the user reviews on Amazon that the box does not support Dolby decoding. Some TV allow the TOS audio to be converted to 2 channel PCM. This would be done from a menu setting on the TV. My Panasonic TVL55ET5 does not seem to support this.

Note that the product description for that model states the following:

"NOTE: The FiiO D3 only supports PCM audio signals and does not support Dolby, DTS, or other surround sound signals. Therefore, it is important that the digital audio output of your device defaults to or can be set to PCM/LPCM output. Otherwise the sound output will be noise/static."

Does that answer your question?

Unless I am missing something obvious the TV has a analog out which you should connect to the wireless headphone base. Change the audio settings on the tv to analog out and that should do it.

Unfortunately many TV are being made with no analog output. This one only seems to have a digital audio output.

Some LCD/LEDs still have analog audio out, but the newer plasmas do not. I'm sorry they have eliminated the RCA audio outputs.

The connections the OP listed in his first post should work, providing he is not trying to listen to audio from the TV's internal tuner. Panasonic TVs output 2 ch. stereo from source devices connected to the TV, but for the internal tuner they output DD5.1 (when available). There is no setting to force PCM out for the tuner's audio.

Digital optical is the only audio out on this TV.

OP should check the Viera settings on his TV to be sure he has speakers set to "external".
