Hello everyone, first time poster but been in and out of this website a lot...

but I am having a problem getting ARC to work for some reason, let me start with the components I use.

Samsung UN60ES7500: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN60ES7500-60-Inch-1080p-240Hz/dp/B0077Y50JS

Onkyo HTR591: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mfDMzKSRJTm/p_580HTS5500/Onkyo-HT-S5500.html

Now, I went into my receiver and set it up for HDMI Control RIHD with ARC turned on.

So I go into my SmartHUB and try to watch netflix or pandora with the samsung Apps, my receiver kicks over to the TV/CD channel as I read that's what it does for ARC. So since it does this I can see that the signal is being sent from the TV to the receiver but I still don't get ANY sound... i've tried turning the TV volume up that didnt do anything, I don't know what the problem is.

P L E A S E H E L P im annoyed with this lol. TIA.

I forgot to mention I use a Motorola DVR (Verizon FIOS) and that is connected to the CBL/SAT input and works perfect, but when I goto smarthub the receiver kicks over to TV/CD for ARC, but no sound frown.gif

1) Make sure you are using the right HDMI input on your tv that is ARC capable. A lot of TV's only have 1 HDMI input ( usually marked) that is ARC compatible.

2) Make sure no other audio input is assigned to the TV/CD input on the Onkyo ( like Optical 1,2 or Coaxial)

Try HDMI port #2 on your Samsung TV.

Worst case, you could always run a seperate optical or coaxial cable from the TV to the amp, and assign it to the TV/CD input. It is the same sound quality

I've had issues using ARC on my setup with my Onkyo and Panny, and I just prefer using the seperate audio cable.

On my Vizio, it requires that the TV speakers be set to OFF (not turned down, actually turned OFF) in order that it can reroute the sound through the HDMI cable.

Not sure if Sammy's require this but you may try it. I don't have my Sammy set up for Arc.

I only offer this because you indicated in your opening post that you turned the TV volume up :)

Perhaps you meant the receiver volume?
