I see in the TVfool results that "An indoor "set-top" antenna is probably sufficient" to pick up the "big 4" which is all that I'm really hoping to get. Despite this, I am not averse to putting an antenna in my attic for better reception, if that is even necessary (?), though the difficulty of running the cables down (inside) a wall may prove a deal-breaker.

I currently have this tuner: . The problem is, with the stock antenna, depending on the station, people walking around can destroy the signal AND some channels, like NBC, are half-way garbled the majority of the time. The stock antenna is about 16" tall and sits about 8' off of the ground (floor is 4' off of the ground and antenna sits about 4' off of the floor on a shelf). It is a basic silver telescoping antenna.

I think the information that I'm seeking is suggestions on an antenna that is compatible with my tuner that will drastically improve my reception.

Thank you so much for your input.

FYI, I get most of my channels out of Birmingham, roughly 10 miles away.

EDIT: I've been reading "EV's Recommended & Top Rated DTV Indoor UHF/VHF Set Top Antenna Review Round-Up Guide" ( I think I'm going to first try the Radio Shack 15-1874 as EV says "This is my new favorite unamplified RE&Loop."

I'll post my results.

Putting an antenna in the attic will definitely help. Also the reason why you have problems with ch13 is because it is a VHF station, which is harder to get than UHF with an indoor antenna.
