I'm a newbie here.  Been on Charter for long time with 5 HDTV sets connected directly.  Charter just switched to all digital and blocked direct connections.  So all sets require an HD box at $10.95 each.  Time to switch to OA antenna on 4 TVs. Will keep the HD DVR box for 1 HDTV, internet, and phone

Here is my TV Fool Analysis:

I have clay tile roof and attic with stand-up space available for Antenna if feasible.

Would welcome your suggestions for antenna, amplifiers, splitters.

Thanks much.

You are pretty close to the tower, even though the tower is on top of Mt Wilson. You need a VHF/UHF combo antenna. The the HBU 22 sold at Radio Shack or the RCA ANT 751 would be good choices.
You can try the attic and see what kind of results you get. If they are not good, you might have to install the antenna outdoors. Keep in mind when you aim the antenna towards the tower, you might have to aim slightly upwards towards Mt Wilson.
As far as needing an amp, first see what you get at 1 tv. If after adding more tv's you notice dropouts, then you need an amp.

Excellent. Have ordered the RCA ANT 751 from Amazon.

Will let you know how it works out.

Thanks much.

Have installed the RCA ANT 751 outside on roof about 12 ft high pointed strait to Mt Wilson.

It is FANTASTIC!

Receiving all the major networks plus about 50 other channels on 4 TVs

Have disconnected two Charter boxes, so only have Charter DVR on main HDTV.

Finally used the digital boxes I received 2 years ago.

Thanks for your assistance.
