Hey guys, today I took the plunge and bought a Clearview 2V antenna for our TV. Budget is tight since I lost my job recently, and cable was out of the question.
Antenna works great, except that I cannot get ABC (12) to come in, which is the channel I wanted most (for NBA coverage).
Looking for some help, if an amplifier would help me at all. I was looking at the PCT unit.
The TV Fool report says I should get ABC, but I can't get any signal. I haven't tried taking the antenna outside yet, its in the living room of our aparment now, facing west. Most towers are to the north, but I tried each direction in the house, this was the best signal.
My apartment will not let me mount this anywhere on the building, but I may be able to make an outdoor pole or something in our back yard if I could get ABC.
I realize the tower is 42 miles away, but so is the NBC tower, and that one comes in fine.
I am running a new Samsung smart HDTV, by the way.
Any help is appreciated, here are my antenna reports:
Take the antenna outside. Trying to get VHF indoors from 42 miles away is a crap shoot. Your odds are probably better at a craps table. Experiment with multiple locations. Try an FM filter, Radio Shack 15-0024, about $5. Do NOT use an amplifier unless you get one with a very high input overload tolerance.
According to Wikipedia, K21BG transmitting on channel 21 is a translator or your ABC affiliate. With line of sight at only 6.5 miles it should be available. I would check again to see if you are getting any signal on 21 and move the antenna to optimize the read-out on your signal quality meter. Just in case you re not aware, all of those channels with numbers in the call sign are translators.
