Help choosing a gaming TV

Hello, I've been told to come to these forums for help by others about choosing a new TV to use with my PS4. I definitely dont know a lot about TV's so I would love help from you guys.
I've had the same 32" Sony Bravia since 2007 which it's highest resolution is 1080i and I've always thought that the difference between that and 1080p was close to nothing until recently I played on a 50" LG 1080p TV and the difference was huge IMO. I'm looking to upgrade and I'm interested in this because of how much I'm willing to spend:

Is it only 1080p I need to worry about or it's there anything else I should know that would be better for my PS4? I heard input lag is important too but I'm not sure how to check what this TV's specs are. And does this TV look good overall?

Also, what is considered a good response time and motion rate for a gaming TV?

Thanks for anything you can tell me!

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.

As Don stated, this is the wrong forum for your request. There is a dedicated thread in the LCD section on input lag for gaming:

Input lag wars!, post your input lag results of your LCD display here for reference

There are also dedicated owners' threads for each TV. They could probably answer your questions, also.
