Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have a quick question regarding HDTV's graphics processor. Is it possible to hook up an external HDTV graphics processor to your TV? I have researched and I have seen that there are external 3D processors you can buy to turn your 2D TV into 3D. I have not seen a regular external graphics processor for TV's though.
Apologies if this doesn't make sense. I am just trying to see if it is possible to make a TV perform better/faster as in less input lag by hooking up a better graphics processor. Would it make grey to grey pixel changes faster?
If you want to watch 3D, you will have to BUY a 3DTV (or 3D-UDTV) to actually DISPLAY it with a (hopefully time-aligned) Audio signal....and SOME of THEM can turn a 2D program into Synthetic 3D for display.
You COULD hook up an External "3D Scan Converter" to a 3DTV via it's HDMI Interface....BUT this would result in TWO SEQUENTIAL Processes, which will probably degrade the resultant image...which would, of course, have a much longer image Delay....which would need to be compensated for by a (hopefully variable) Audio Delay in the Scan Converter.
3DTV's already HAVE a Graphics Processor built-into them WHICH USUALLY CAN NOT BE BYPASSED. Even if you used an External Scan Converter to upscale, deinterleave (if 480i or 1080i) and do Motion Adaptive processing on a sub-1080p to form a 1080p signal, the 3DTV's Graphics Processor is STILL going to TRY it's OWN Motion Adaptive processing, trying to generate "in-between" frames at a rate that is usually MUCH Higher than the 30 or 60 frames per second HDMI signals [typ. 600-1200 fps Screen Refresh Rates in upscale HDTV/UDTV's]. And ultimately the Graphics Processor in the 3DTV KNOWS what is needed to work BEST with the chosen Screen Refresh Rate and other design constraints.
