I don't know how far I trust folks that don't know the difference between ATSC and NTSC! :D (Never mind other things like what the heck is 'para todos' capable? Does that mean it gets all three sats?!)

Para Todos is the Spanish language programming package DirecTV offers, it does require a multisat dish. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/learn/...osPackages.dsp

I have official word from Toshiba: The DST-3100 is engineered by Toshiba, and is not OEM'ed by anyone else.

Yeah, I knew what it was, I just couldn't believe they were saying that an IRD could get a particular package. That's on a par with 'HD capable antenna'. I'd hope that anyone would know that any D* box would get any D* package. Must be the Barnum factor at work (you can't go broke underestimating the intelligence of the consumer....)

Was the blurb just a way of telling consumers who though that the 'para todos' package needed something special but didn't know what that the 3100 *did* have it? I'd think that any IRD you bought nowadays would talk to anything, but perhaps they wanted to cover all the bases....

No. I received confirmation the Toshiba DST-3100 & RCA DTC-210 are different units.

And, for those that aren't aware, Value Electronics appears to be on the up and up. They are the folks running the major pre-order deal for the HD TiVo, and no one thinks they are stringing us along. I believe they are just passing along the 'data' (as it were) from Toshiba.

I also would like to see what you all have to report this box can do after waiting all this time. Should be interesting.... hope you aren't disappointed!

I purchased my LG 3200A from ****************. They received one of the first shipments coming out of LG as I found accurate in receiving mine before anyone else. They are definately on the up and up and push to be one of the first with all new DirecTV STB's.

I called Value Electronics on Monday and spoke with the man who answered the phone and he said that toshiba told him that they should went out that monday, and he said that he got a shipping tracking number from them, so it seems that we should have them next week, the week of 3/29

as UPS shipping is 5 business days, so it seems the date is true.

But I noticed that OneCall has removed the DST-3100 from their website. Not shown as an available choice, even in limited availabilities.

Did anyone have a pre-order with OneCall for a DST-3100? What is OneCall telling you?

As a long time reader and now registered: I would like to say thank's to everyone that has provided with me all the information I have needed to build my home theater!

After going through one Samsung 360 and one Hughes that had audio drops, guide problems etc I'm pretty excited about my new toy, The Toshiba DTC3100.I ordered it from *********************. The Big Brown Truck should be here in a few hours. So now I need to go sit on my front deck and wait. When i get it hooked up I will post my impressions. By the way **************** has been a pleasure to work with and I don't get to say this that often!

I got the model# wrong. DST-3100 is the correct#.
It should be here by 3PM pacific time. I will post as soon as I recieve it. The UPS driver always makes fun of me for sitting on the front deck waiting for my toys. The reason he makes fun of me is I am is I am a 40yr old kid who just won't grow up and sits out front waiting like a 5yr old waiting for the ice cream truck! Hopefully Dale will be racing the Big Brown Truck and it will be here before 3pm

I sure hope you like it. I still have a hard time understanding why anyone would buy this box when it was delayed and delayed. It was originally scheduled to be released about 6 months before the HD300 so its real late.....

Good luck, I hope it works for you.....

Well as luck would have it, it was shipped ground instead of 2nd day air. If I don't cancel the order I will post my impressions as soon as I get it.

How can you cancel it if it was 'shipped ground'? Or are we reading you wrong?

Cancel would be the wrong word. Return would be the right word. It,s just frustrating waiting for orders that were mis-shipped. It is now expected on Tues. **************** has been very apologetic and has made things right with me.

My gear is:

Denon 3803 Reciever
Denon DVD 2200
Sony ES CD changer
Sony KV34Hs510
PSB Stratus silvers all around

I am very happy with what I have. I'm just trying to find a Sat reciever that does not suffer from audio drops, guide problems Etc.

Thanks again to all at AVS

**************** is hip deep in hundreds of orders for the HD TiVo, so I'm not surprised they made a few mistakes here and there... they do fix things and make them right.

I'd like to hear if this one works well, also. With all the problems with the LG/Sony/Hughes platform, who knows? :)
