Sun spots are mostly only a fall and spring time issue if they affect you at all. If he had been getting signal fine before I would would suspect something else, multi-switch, lnb or cabling.

Curious as to whether your Tivo can turn on the HD300. My SVR2000 will change channels, but will not turn on the STB. Perhaps it is because I am using the alternate command channels for the HD300? I have it set to 51 as I also have another Sony STB and the remote was changin channels on both.

Thanks

The box will simultaniously output HD and SD. So you can watch SD via composite or S-video at the same time as your HDMI or Component HD. You can't output HDMI and Component at the same time (there is a switch on the back that toggles between these 2 types of output).

Can't output HDMI at all, this box has a DVI output.. :)

and, for whatever reason, a DVI > HDMI cable will not work with this receiver.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have this unit and I am happy with it. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable to my RP LCOS TV and it works fine.

SD does not look all that great via DVI so I am hoping that with S video it will soften the picture up and not show all the flaws of SD on a HD set

Thanks
P
